MR. SHENTON PLEADS CAUSE OF CAUSE OF CIVIL AVIATION.

GOVERNMENT'S REPLY.

In the Budget Debate at the Legislative Council meeting yesterday, many recommendations were pressed by the Un- officials, and a charge of timidity on the part of the Government was levelled by the Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga.

Among the numerous subjects recommended was a bolder outlook all round, the prompt commencement of the Shing Mun Valley water scheme, the provision of adequate facilities in the matter of aviation, unless the Colony wished to be left behind, a more adequate air-subsidy, a heavier betting-tax, the consideration of the policy of retaining a credit balance of at feast $10,000,000, and a simultaneous broadcast of foreign and Chinese programmes through separate transmitters.
